COLOUR
- Plain phase and banded phase occur
- Plain phase has various colours, yellow brown colour with mottled dark speckles on top and lighter underneath
- The banded phase has bands of which are yellowish with darker bands, there are normally 7 yellowish bands on the body and 2 on the tail

HABITAT
- Often found along riverbanks and areas of water
- Also found in Arid areas

- Rodents
- Frogs
- Birds
- Eggs
- Chicks
- Other snakes

MISCELLANEOUS
- Does not spit venom. • Has a broad head and impressive hood
- Has smooth scales
