ACTIVITY
Appears mainly after rains

Cannot be held due to the positioning of the fangs

REPRODUCTION
Oviparous, laying 3-7 eggs in midsummer

- Uniform purple-brown to black, may also have a bluish appearance

HABITAT
- Lives under rocks, logs and termite mounds

FEEDING
Feeds on:
- Burrowing reptiles
- Frogs
- Small rodents, which it finds in their burrows

MISCELLANEOUS
- Bites cause local pain, swelling with Necrosis
- Slight Neurotoxic symptoms may occur
- No anti venom is administered but a painful bite that can lead to loss of fingers
